www.pvoutput.org and alertme

Post by infinnissy »

Try this great free site to automatically log your energy usage and Solar PV generation. The team at pvoutput.org have taken the alertme API and integrated it into their site. All your energy usage data can be logged and analyzed for free on this excellent site.
You can see energy generated from energy used and add feedin tariffs to give an estimate of your energy bills. Combining this with weather data for your area you can see if your solar PV system is performing as expected. I don't work for either Alertme or PVoutput but this combination of data and the reporting of pvoutput fits all my requirements of energy monitoring. This is the way alertme should have been using its energy data from day 1.
I now find a reason to keep my alertme gear, which incidentally I have always liked. It is just the poor service that came with the new management structure which is frustrating.
Big thanks to pvoutput.org for their work..

Take a look, I am sure you will like it.
For reference my data is under 'Fluerieu Gyroplanes' if anybody wishes to see how the alertme data looks on this site.

Interesting service - I'm going to hook it up to one of the test systems, as I'm not exactly enamoured by the idea of putting my AlertMe username and password into their system. I'm interested in sending some of my data into StatHat or one of the sites they support as a feed. That way I can publicise my energy usage and feed it into their systems without compromising the security of my AlertMe account.
Alerty - you could control your AlertMe system with my third-party app for iPhone and iPod Touch. Used to be available on iTunes!
