AlertMe planning new features?

Post by terry »

I have been having a look around the new AlertMe website and came across this in the home monitoring section, none of which was mentioned on their old site.

Perhaps new features and products are being planned, they're just not letting on yet...

In addition, AlertMe's 'magic rules' provide the ability to intelligently automate devices so they work together and the system learns your habits and preferences to automatically adapt without your constant intervention.

SmartMonigtoring incorporates applications such as security sensors (motion and door & windows), safety detectors (smoke, carbon monoxide, gas and flood) cameras, keypads, locks, thermostats, keyfobs and connected home appliances.

Interesting - I read a presentation that they gave earlier in the year about 'intelligent' systems that learned about your usage and adapted themselves to fit. It was very nicely thought through, though I thought it was some way off being implemented. Perhaps this is just a bit of marketing, because so far as I can tell, AlertMe are much more interested in promoting their system to resellers, rather than selling directly.

But who knows - maybe this will be added to the other dashboard? Or maybe some of the AlertMe Labs users will be called into action again?
Alerty - you could control your AlertMe system with my third-party app for iPhone and iPod Touch. Used to be available on iTunes!

Well I've just spoken to AlertMe and they say these features are only available to partners not to customers.

They have also just said there are no plans to release the new SmartMonitoring interface.

I have no issue with them working with partners, I just wish a UK partner would release a product that is similar to the Lowes iris product. British Gas Safe and Secure has no where near as many features as the 'proper' AlertMe product otherwise I would consider switching.

I am happy with the product but am getting frustrated seeing these 'new' products for everyone else but us.

Well, at least they've been straight with you - much better than the failed promises of before. I still find the current dashboard just fine - accurate graphing and the API are the killer features for me.

As for the additional features in Iris... Yes, they've really done that product properly. Like you, if there were a UK version with an API, I'd be tempted. The BG system just isn't fully featured enough (plus I bet most of their sensors can already be used with the old hub).

I contacted AlertMe today, I was looking into a new alarm system for myself, I wanted something that would offer me more from an alarm system that you'd normally get. Anyway, this is what I got with response to the new boiler control that you all have been promised for years.

Thank you for your enquiry, this product is currently exclusive to British Gas. Details for this are available at http://www.britishgas.co.uk/smarter-liv ... ution.html

Regards,

Cupport

I also asked about the system they sell & I was told its no longer available, (disscontinued) I feel this is unfair to you all as you've spent a lot of money on this system with promises of new products.

They have teamed up with BG and left all their customers in the past, very bad move as without you, they wouldn't be here now!
