Registering second hand hub

Post by robwalker »

Hi,

I've just bought a fairly substantial amount of alertme kit on ebay. I've registered for an account, but I can't find any way of registering the hub. When I log in to my account, I get a page telling me:

thank you for registeringBefore continuing, you must tell us how you wish to pay the monthly fee. You can use credit or debit cards. Please click here to be redirected to the Barclays payment page and enter your card details.

However when I click the link, I get transferred to barclays which just displays an error page saying:

Sorry, there has been a problem processing your payment.
Mandatory information not present or invalid.

..and that's about all I can do. The 'my account' link at the top pof the screen just takes me to a blank page.

Does anyone have any advice? Alertme don't appear to have any weekend support, so I'm not sure what I can do about it before Monday. Does anyone have a direct link to the hub registration page?

Thanks
Rob

Welcome to the forum, Rob!

Well, that's a bit of a problem. It has been a while since I registered a hub, but it is all done through that account page - it should take you through the setup bit (where it seems to be dying on you) and then ask you for the Hub ID code to associate it with your account. If it's not getting past those first steps, then I think you will have to wait until Monday. Bit of a shame, as I remember the days when support was 8am-8pm, 7 days a week!

Give it another try later in the day, but there is one more hurdle that you may need to contact support for anyway... If the previous owner has not properly closed down their account (thus freeing up the Hub) you won't be able to add it to your account. The system will believe that it is still active on the old account and obviously, it's not going to allow two different accounts to manage it. As the new Hub owner, support should be able to disassociate it from it's previous account.

Let us know how you get along!
Alerty - you could control your AlertMe system with my third-party app for iPhone and iPod Touch. Used to be available on iTunes!

Thanks for the reply!

I seem to have managed to get to the hub registration page (although I'm not altogether sure how!) However as you sugest I'm now unable to register the hub. Presumably because it's registered to the previous owner. I guess there's no way to factory reset the hub? I took a look inside and there is a button on the circuit board, but I haven't managed to get it to do anything. Maybe a reset wouldn't help as I presume the registration code is hard coded in the device and it would still show as registered to the previous owner.

I'll see if I can contact them. Can they de-register it online? If not I guess I'm stuck until Monday morning!

Hi.
You need to get in touch with support as they will have to de-regiter it first. I had a similar problem with my partners Hub as it only half registered when I installed it and they need to set up the correct account or something. As soon as they set the account to the right type it all went through.
