I love the fact Iris is all heavily about security.... yep that think that AlertMe seemed to abandon in favour of going green. Good to see someone else thinks security is a good use of it too, I hope AlertMe pay attention.

I'd guess that depends on whether a) they've made any changes and b) whether what they changed was GPL'd in the first place, and finally c) they've been asked, and refused.

I'm unsure if all those criteria have been met yet.

Similar to you, last incident I think was Tuesday, hub dissapeared and reappeared later (a few hours as I recall). No internet problems (checked and that was working), so odd, but also not great that the SIM card backup didn't kick in either.

Look at who's running the show now, ex-bosses of Tiscali, a nice big ISP. They're never going to worry about individual customers, we'll just be a number (as in "number of existing customers") on a graph and a source of income. Provided they can sell to new customers and exploit new market...

Looking at post times etc, looks like it was down for in excess of 2 hours. Regardless of the cause it's pretty much unacceptable. This isn't ADSL, or the milkman, this is supposed to be either a home security system, or a home automation system. In both cases it needs to be working 100% of the time...

I did have a lot of problems with the hub, but not quite as you describe. For me, if I ever had to reboot the router (Draytek 2820, then Sonicwall TZ210), the hub would stay offline. The typical scenario was losing my net connection, router rebooted, hub stayed offline (and I didn't notice) for days...

I've got mine all from Ebay of late, not that they were that cheap.

The thing that made Ebay cheaper was the lack of the hefty AM delivery charge. Don't forget that when you're buying from AlertMe.
